Interpreters and translators in Germany

The translator translates German into English (German to English translation) or English into German (English to German translation). The translator will work with texts of all types, such as, for example, books, internet sites, as well as contracts or other forms of business correspondence. The sworn tranlsator provides the services in accordance with the laws of the judicial system. The sworn translator specialises in the field of law and is appointed by a German court of law. This translator will be commissioned for written translations of court documents, contracts as well as other legal documents.

In order to become a sworn translator, the translator must take an oath.

The interpreter (in German "Dolmetscher"), on the other hand, works with the spoken language. Additionally, for his profession, body language and the gestures within the communication must be considered. Just as the sworn translator, the german sworn interpreter provides services in accordance with the court of law. Sworn interpreters specialise in the field of law and are appointed by a German court of law. In similar way to the sworn translator, sworn interpreters in Germany must take an oath.
